What
are the Exegenix Conversion Solutions? |
|
Exegenix
Conversion Solutions are a family of XML conversion
products derived from Exegenix technology. The modular
structure of Exegenix technology means that we can
offer a flexible range of deployment options to address
each individual organization's XML conversion needs.
Depending on your requirements for process control,
data security, processing power and support, our technology
can be employed in a variety of ways: choose from
onsite installation of the heavy-duty Exegenix Conversion
System, a deployment of the nimbler Exegenix Conversion
Satellite, or the fully turnkey Exegenix Conversion
Service - all leveraging our technology to provide
accurate, fast, cost-effective XML output. |

|
When
should I deploy the Exegenix Conversion System? |
|
The
full Exegenix Conversion System is recommended for
high-security environments involving classified information
(for example, military installations, some government
departments, etc). |
|
|
|
|
|
When
should I deploy the Exegenix Conversion Satellite? |
|
The
Exegenix Conversion Satellite is ideal for organizations
that require local control over the XML conversion
process, and the flexibility of a system that scales
seamlessly to meet variable or unpredictable demand
- without major hardware investment. |
|

|
|
|
When
should I choose the Exegenix Conversion Service? |
|
The
Conversion Service is available either direct from
Exegenix, or via our partner network, for organizations
that need no interaction with the conversion process
until their final XML is delivered. |

|
What's
the difference between the Software and Hardware Satellites?
|
|
The
user-installed Software Satellite is the fastest way
to deploy Exegenix technology, and is ideal for trial
projects or small volumes of conversion. It consists
of client applications on end-user workstations, and
requires no dedicated hardware. Organizations with
a sizeable conversion team may wish to enhance performance
via a Hardware Satellite, which acts as a go-between
for the local client-based and remote server-based
applications. It consists of a dedicated server residing
on an organization's local network, eliminating potential
Internet network latency and providing multiple users
with rapid access to the same capabilities and user
interfaces as the Software Satellite. |
|
|
|
|
What's
the pricing model? |
|
No
matter which Exegenix deployment option you choose,
conversion is charged per kilocharacter of approved
XML output. This means that you only pay for XML output
that meets your quality standards. Volume pricing
discounts are available. Additional charges apply
to pre- and post-conversion processing services if
undertaken by Exegenix, such as transformation to
a specific DTD. |
|
|
|
|
|
What
if my documents are paper-based? |
|
Exegenix
technology can convert into XML any document that
can be printed to PDF or Postscript. If you are unable
to reproduce your paper-based materials in this format,
one of our partners will be able to undertake this
via OCR at an additional charge. |
|
|
|
|
|
What
if I have a specific DTD? |
|
Exegenix
solutions all produce XML output compliant with our
own DTD (an enhanced version of Docbook). The Exegenix
Export DTD has been specifically design for ease of
transformation and, depending on your chosen solution,
the XML output produced can be quickly transformed
to your DTD by your organization, by Exegenix, or
by one of our partners. |

How
can I try out the Exegenix Conversion Solutions? |
|
The
user-installed Software Satellite is the fastest way
to deploy Exegenix technology, and is ideal for trial
projects. However, if you just want to see what Exegenix
Conversion Solutions can do for your organization,
you can upload a representative sample of your material
at our “Sample
Document Upload” page, and we will be happy
to convert it free of charge. |
|
|
|
|
|
What
about security? |
|
If
your materials are too sensitive to go offsite, the
full Exegenix Conversion System can be installed at
your location. However, every Satellite user sharing
processing power with Exegenix is sandboxed, via a
dedicated area on the Exegenix servers. Every client's
data is isolated, every account is secure, and Exegenix
will not view third party data without permission. |
