In order to be competitive, companies need to improve the
operational processes to addresses new services and offerings
. The demand for new and more sophisticated products and
services and the provider's time to market will drive this
marketplace. A company's ability to represent and bill accurately
for these newer and more complex services will become a
bigger challenge over the next few years.
Our client is one of the largest Telecom Service providers
in India. They have over 35,000 electronic exchanges, about
35 million customers connecting about 400 cities, 5,000
towns and over half a million villages. With over 250,000
Internet connections and nearly a million Public Call Offices
(PCOs), there are nearly 900 million calls made every day.
They have a nation wide Network management & surveillance
system (NMSS) to control telecom traffic. Our client provides
other services such as Internet services, Cellular mobile
services, Wireless in local loop and digital loop carriers.
The company plans to soon set up other services like Fibre
to home, STM- 16 fibre rings, Asynchronous transfer mode
bandwidth on demand and more intelligent network.
The Challenge: Improved Account
Management
Our client, to reduce time spent on billing and revenue
control, opted to have a user friendly multi user, online,
client server based system for their Billing and Accounting
department in order to have a faster and better mode of
revenue collection and account management. Well aware of
the competition and the time to market as also the need
to have a full range of products, the client wanted a robust
and scalable system.
The Solution: Customization-Billing Product
The solution developed by Tata Infotech involved customization
of a third party product. The customization was done taking
into account user requirements specified during the requirement
phase.
This product is a complete Billing and Accounting package
developed by one of our partner vendors. It has all the
