It is also a leading provider of wireless test solutions for field test applications, wireless emergency call box systems, and mobile power products for laptop computers, cellular telephones and other handheld devices.

Their powerful next-generation wireless testing solutions deliver maximum flexibility, scalability and modularity. These solutions are helping in rapidly transitioning wireless networks to accommodate multiple standards— from legacy systems to next-generation
technologies — and meet challenges for deployment and maintenance. The result is better service, lower costs, increased customer satisfaction and increased revenues.

Wireless Test Solutions

Our client has outsourced software development of its product on test and measurement of wireless communication services at Tata Infotech’s facility in India.

The Challenge : SMS Based Yellow Pages Service

Optimizer with WCDMA
The Optimizer product is an automated tool for fault finding and resolution, which helps the carriers to identify key problems that affect network performance, isolate the causes, and find cost-effective solutions. Development of two products in the Optimizer range of products, are being carried out at the offshore testing center. These are new optimizer tools, which will support WCDMA and a new version of existing X.50 series Optimization tool.
Benchmarking software
This project covers the development of benchmarking software and is developed in Windows environment and qualified in Windows ME and XP operating systems. This product line supports the different wireless technologies of competing networks and is used to simulate and, evaluate network performance in real world conditions from the subscriber's perspective. The systems measure aspects such as audio quality, dropped calls, and out of service occurrences.
X.50 Replacement
This project covers the development of a new version of existing X.50 series Optimization tool. The existing X.50 products support GSM, CDMA, IS-136 and iDEN technologies. This version of the tool will also support GPRS and UMTS. This product is developed in Windows environment and qualified in Windows ME and XP operating systems

The Solution : Innovative Wireless Application

Our Client needed a SMS wireless application, which allowed the user to make a query in his own language to get the information. They selected our Natural Language Processing (NLP) engine to meet this requirement. NLP analyses the query into specific key search words and depending on these worlds, a query is made to the Yellow Pages database to get the records. Further, these records are fine-tuned and sent as a response to the user in three SMS messages. This application has been developed using Oracle 9i, Java Servlets and NLP.

The client wanted the database copies to be decentralized for all the cities, and needed them to be synchronized with the main database on a daily basis.

Our Client was provided with the necessary software modules and interfaces with their SMS Gateway. Input Servlet to process the raw queries received from users was provided too.

The key search worlds analysis of the query by our NLP Engine, was specifically developed for Yellow pages. Query processing module that formulates queries depending on the output of the NLP. module, collects the response, formulates the result and sends it to the SMS Gateway for further delivery to the user. The SMS Gateway is interfaced with the set of APIs provided by the vendor.
