Customer: A state Bureau of Motor Vehicles, in USA

The Customer

The Bureau deals with the issuance of licenses to dealers for selling vehicles, water crafts and manufactured homes. They also issue certificate of title, plates and stickers for the ownership of a vehicle. The Bureau renews the certificates and plates at regular intervals of time.

The Challenge

The client was looking for a comprehensive solution to process and monitor certificate of titles issued by Clerk of Courts for a vehicle and issuing and monitoring of licenses to dealers for vehicles, motors, water crafts, manufactured homes and built homes.

The Solution

Tata Infotech developed Automated Title Processing System (ATPS), a customized software by Unisys using LINC on 2200/600 series machine. ATPS has been developed as a distributed processing system with the central ATPS system residing on the Unisys 2200-Series machine computer which receives data from 88 counties in the state. The counties use UNIX machines and an INFORMIX RDBMS as front end. A communication protocol has been set up between the central 2200-Series and UNIX machines located at the counties.
